Square inventory analytics

See one inventory picture across every active Square location.

CMP combines your active Square locations, item library, inventory counts, and completed orders into one analysis—without editing your Square account.

Read-only by design

Clear access boundaries before you connect.

CMP requests only the commerce data needed to build an inventory diagnostic. The connection is not a route back into your point of sale.

CMP reads

Evidence for inventory decisions

  • Active locations and merchant profile details
  • Items, variations, SKUs, prices, and categories
  • Inventory counts across active locations
  • Completed orders and item-level sales

CMP never writes

Your retail system stays under your control

  • Items, variations, categories, or prices
  • Inventory counts or stock adjustments
  • Orders, payments, refunds, or customers
  • Square account, staff, or location settings

  4. 04

    Complete costs if needed

Download the prefilled SKU template, add missing unit costs, and upload it to finish margin analysis.

How the data is handled

The important details, without the integration jargon.

01

CMP separates observed facts from complete recommendations

An empty item library cannot produce a diagnostic. Stores with no completed orders receive a catalog snapshot, and stores with less than 120 days of completed sales receive a preliminary view. CMP unlocks the complete recovery plan only when the history and cost evidence supports it.

02

A merchant cost upload is the reliable path

Square's documented catalog API does not provide a dependable item-cost field. CMP supplies a prefilled SKU template so you can add unit costs without granting write access. Uploaded costs always take priority, and complete analysis requires coverage for at least half of stocked SKUs.

03

Active locations are combined automatically

Inventory counts are summed across every active Square location connected to the merchant account. Completed orders are collected by location and normalized into one store-wide view.

04

Events mark data for authoritative re-fetch

Signed Square events tell CMP when data may be stale. CMP then re-fetches authoritative account data during reconciliation rather than treating an event payload as the source of truth.

Questions

Square integration FAQ

Need help with a specific store? Talk with the CMP team.

Does CMP support multiple Square locations?

Yes. CMP includes every active location in the connected Square merchant account and aggregates inventory across those locations.

Why do I need to upload Square costs?

Square's documented catalog API does not provide a dependable item-cost field. CMP uses a prefilled SKU template to collect missing costs without requesting write access.

Which Square orders does CMP include?

CMP imports completed orders from the available 366-day window. Incomplete or non-completed activity does not enter the sales analysis.
