Square inventory management apps connect to Square Point of Sale to sync stock, run purchasing or show what's sitting unsold. We rank seven, verified October 15, 2026. Cash Margin Partners ranks first: it's free, read-only, and shows the cash tied up in slow Square stock.
Disclosure: Cash Margin Partners publishes this site. I'm John Valenti, CMP's founder, so we ranked ourselves, and each entry says where another tool fits your store better.
Every Square store has a back room, even when it's three shelves behind the counter. Square tells you how many units are back there. The six apps below each fill a different gap around that count.

Why This List Exists and How We Chose These 7
Square's own pages fill most search results for Square inventory management, which leaves owners guessing about what plugs in. We built this list from apps a Square retailer can connect today.
We weighed five criteria, roughly in this order:
- Live Square connection: each app has a current Square App Marketplace listing, and its own site confirms Square support.
- What it does with Square data: sync stock, run purchasing, or analyze what's sitting.
- Dollars or units: whether the tool reports slow stock in money an owner can weigh against rent.
- Published pricing: a price a small store can check without booking a sales call.
- Fit for one to five locations: independent stores come first.
We checked every marketplace listing, vendor pricing page and Square help article on October 15, 2026. Prices move, so confirm on the linked page before you buy.
Square itself sits outside the ranking because every app here runs on top of it. We also left out restaurant tools such as MarketMan and Craftable, which appear on the marketplace but target food cost.
What Square's Own Inventory Tools Cover Today
Square's free plan includes real-time stock tracking, low-stock alerts, CSV import and inventory history, per its inventory management page. Stock-level reports export to a spreadsheet at no charge.
Square for Retail Plus costs $49 per month per location, per the Square for Retail pricing page. It adds stock intake, vendor and purchase order management, and cost of goods and inventory reporting. Premium costs $149 per month per location and lists transfer orders and cross-location returns.
Plus unlocks two reports that matter for slow stock. The aging inventory report shows average age, last received date, on-hand value and quantity in 30, 60, 90 and 120-day buckets.
The sell-through report tracks sell-through rate, sales velocity and stock levels. Square calls 80% or higher excellent and anything below 40% concerning.
Square stops short in two places. Its inventory page lists no dedicated forecasting tool. The purchase order help article describes building orders by hand, up to 500 unique items each.
Key insight: Square's aging report tells you how old each item is. Deciding which of those items to mark down, bundle or clear first, and in what order, is still your job.
If you want that ranked, dollar version without upgrading to Plus, connect Square to a free workspace and see your own figure.
1. Cash Margin Partners: Best for Finding the Cash Tied Up in Slow Square Stock
Cash Margin Partners reads Square and shows the cash sitting in slow and dead stock, ranked by what to move first. The connection is read-only, and the software is free.
Cash Margin Partners is an inventory cash-recovery practice for independent, owner-operated retailers. It shows them exactly how much cash is trapped in unsold inventory and gives them a prioritized plan to get it back.
For Square stores, that starts with a live, read-only connection. Per our integrations page, CMP reads all active locations, your item library, inventory counts and up to 366 days of completed orders.
CMP never writes to your Square account, so your catalog and counts stay exactly as they were. I built it for the owner who suspects the back room is full and wants the number before deciding anything.
Two terms run through the analysis. Dead stock is inventory with no verified sales over the measured window. Slow-moving inventory still sells, but below the rate that justifies its shelf and its cash.
Key features
- Read-only Square connection across every active location, with up to 366 days of completed orders.
- Slow-moving and dead stock shown in dollars, with a ranked plan for what to move first.
- CMP estimates 30, 60 and 90-day cash-at-risk ranges when there's enough supported sales history and cost data. Forecasts and predictive alerts require a recent successful supported live connection and sufficient history and cost evidence; model projections are not guarantees.
- Price-to-sell recommendations, plus stockout dates with confidence bands.
- Spreadsheet upload (CSV, TSV or Excel) with a guided column review for systems you'd rather export by hand.
- CMP Exchange, a liquidation marketplace, for stock you decide to clear.
Pricing
Cash Margin Partners is free: one plan, no card and no time limit, per the pricing page. CMP earns a 20% fee on matched liquidation sales through CMP Exchange, paid only after the seller is paid. CMP Exchange availability and transaction handling follow its published seller terms.
Who should choose Cash Margin Partners
- Square owners on the free plan who want an aging view in dollars without paying $49 per location for Plus.
- Multi-location Square stores that want one view of slow stock across every location.
- Owners planning a markdown or clearance who need to know which items to start with.
Limitations
Cash Margin Partners doesn't sync stock, build purchase orders or edit your catalog; it reads Square and analyzes. Results depend on your cost and sales history, so items with no cost on file produce thinner analysis.
The 366-day order window also means a slow item from two holiday seasons ago shows only its last year of sales.
2. Thrive Inventory: Best for Multi-Location Square Retailers Who Need Purchasing and Forecasting
Thrive Inventory, from Shopventory, Inc., adds purchasing, transfers, forecasting and cross-channel stock sync on top of Square POS and Square Online.
Thrive's Square App Marketplace listing describes a central inventory system across Square POS locations and ecommerce platforms, including Shopify, BigCommerce and WooCommerce. The listing went live in February 2022 and was most recently updated March 20, 2026.
Square expanded its partnership with Thrive in December 2025. Per Square's announcement, items created in Square sync to Shopify automatically and stock updates in both directions. Square stays the system of record.
The Thrive homepage lists stock tracking, sales and inventory reporting, purchase orders and wholesale tools. Thrive shows 4.8 stars from 91 reviews on the Square App Marketplace as of October 15, 2026.
Key features
- Two-way stock and catalog sync between Square and Shopify, with Square as the system of record.
- Basic and automatic purchase orders, depending on plan.
- Internal and automated stock transfers between locations.
- Intelligent stock forecasting and custom dashboards.
- Kits and bundles, plus lot and average cost tracking.
Pricing
The Thrive pricing page lists Starter at $59 per month billed monthly, or $55 billed annually, for one location or integration. Standard is $129 per month and Professional is $279 per month, each with a 14-day trial.
The same page shows a second table with different figures ($79 to $799 per month), so get your plan's price in writing.
Who should choose Thrive Inventory
- Square stores with two or more locations that move stock between them.
- Square and Shopify sellers who want Square to stay the source of truth.
- Owners who need purchase orders and forecasting in one place.
Limitations
On our reading of the pricing cards, each plan caps combined locations and integrations. Two Square stores plus a Shopify site would exceed Standard's limit of two. Thrive also writes to your catalog and counts, so a setup mistake can spread across channels.
Thrive Inventory vs Cash Margin Partners
Thrive runs day-to-day inventory: it syncs, reorders and transfers. Cash Margin Partners reads the same Square data and shows which stock is holding cash. Plenty of stores could use both.
| Point | Thrive Inventory | Cash Margin Partners |
|---|---|---|
| Starting price | $59 per month | Free |
| Square access | Reads and writes | Read-only |
| Purchase orders and transfers | Yes | No |
| Ecommerce stock sync | Yes | No |
| Ranked plan for slow stock | Not described | Yes |
| Liquidation channel | No | CMP Exchange (published seller terms) |
3. SKU IQ: Best for Syncing Square With an Online Store on a Small Budget
SKU IQ, from o2o Commerce Inc., syncs inventory, orders and catalog data between Square and your ecommerce site. Plans start at $19 per month.
SKU IQ's Square App Marketplace listing sums it up: sync inventory and orders between Square and your eCommerce website. Supported storefronts include Shopify, WooCommerce, BigCommerce, Wix and Squarespace.
The listing dates to July 2018 and shows 4.7 stars from 140 reviews as of October 15, 2026.
The SKU IQ homepage describes the product for small and medium businesses. It links products by title, SKU or UPC, and shows online and POS orders in one view.
Key features
- Inventory quantity sync between Square and your storefront, with unlimited linked items on every plan.
- Product linking by title, SKU or UPC.
- Unified order view across online and POS sales.
- Attribute sync and auto-push for new items on Plus, image sync on Pro.
- Multi-location support for Square, priced per location.
Pricing
The SKU IQ pricing page lists Basic at $19, Plus at $49 and Pro at $99 per month. Multi-location costs $10 per location, and trials run up to 14 days.
Who should choose SKU IQ
- A single Square store with a Wix, Squarespace or Shopify site.
- Owners re-keying stock counts between the till and the website.
- Stores that want sync running for under $20 a month.
Limitations
SKU IQ is a sync tool first. Its site describes a unified order view, but no purchase orders, forecasting or aging reports.
SKU IQ vs Cash Margin Partners
SKU IQ keeps counts accurate across channels. Cash Margin Partners shows which of those accurately counted items have stopped selling, and what they're worth.
| Point | SKU IQ | Cash Margin Partners |
|---|---|---|
| Starting price | $19 per month | Free |
| Square access | Reads and writes | Read-only |
| Ecommerce stock sync | Yes | No |
| Slow stock in dollars | Not described | Yes |
| Spreadsheet upload | Not described | Yes |
4. Finale Inventory: Best for Square Sellers Running a Warehouse and Several Marketplaces
Finale Inventory is a cloud inventory system for omnichannel sellers, syncing Square with Amazon, eBay and Shopify from one or more warehouses.
Finale's Square App Marketplace listing targets omnichannel retailers and supports multiple locations. Stock can be shared or kept separate by channel, and sales reduce stock at the location whose Square reader took the payment.
The Finale Square page says inventory updates within five minutes of a sale. It also lists automated restock alerts based on sales trends and customizable reports.
The listing has been live since November 2018 and was most recently updated November 15, 2025.
Key features
- Multi-warehouse inventory with 40-plus sales channel integrations.
- Procurement and replenishment workflows.
- Financial reporting with inventory asset valuation.
- Mobile barcode warehouse module on the Growth plan.
- Price updates in Finale reflected in your Square POS right away.
Pricing
The Finale pricing page lists Essentials from $499 per month and Growth from $799 per month. Enterprise is custom, and most customers sign 12, 24 or 36-month agreements.
Who should choose Finale Inventory
- Square sellers who also ship Amazon and eBay orders from a warehouse.
- Teams that receive stock by barcode scanner.
- Businesses where inventory valuation feeds the books.
Limitations
At $499 per month with multi-year terms, Finale is heavy for a single Square boutique. The pricing page offers a demo request and mentions no free trial.
Finale Inventory vs Cash Margin Partners
Finale replaces the warehouse spreadsheet and runs purchasing across channels. Cash Margin Partners sits beside whatever you run and answers one question: where the cash is stuck.
| Point | Finale Inventory | Cash Margin Partners |
|---|---|---|
| Starting price | $499 per month | Free |
| Contract | Usually 12 to 36 months | None |
| Square access | Reads and writes | Read-only |
| Warehouse and barcode tools | Yes | No |
| Ranked plan for slow stock | Not described | Yes |
5. Trunk: Best for Makers Syncing Square Stock With Etsy, Faire and Shopify
Trunk syncs stock levels by SKU between Square and channels such as Etsy, Faire, Shopify and Amazon, and it handles bundles.
Trunk's Square App Marketplace listing centralizes inventory between Square and everywhere else you sell. It tracks packs and sets, and it can calculate available stock from materials.
The Trunk homepage says one subscription covers all your channels, including several stores on one platform. Its FAQ confirms Trunk currently syncs stock levels only.
Trunk shows 4.9 stars from 408 reviews on its Shopify App Store listing as of October 15, 2026.
Key features
- Real-time stock sync by SKU across Square and other channels.
- Bundles, packs and kits that draw down component stock.
- Available stock calculated from raw materials.
- Connections to Squarespace, Shopify, Etsy, Faire, eBay, Amazon, WooCommerce and QuickBooks Online.
Pricing
Trunk's Shopify App Store listing shows Essential from $35 per month for up to 100 orders. That rises to $89 at 401 to 800 orders, and Pro starts at $39.
The Trunk homepage lists a 14-day free trial with no card. Confirm direct pricing with Trunk if you don't sell on Shopify.
Who should choose Trunk
- Makers who sell at markets on Square and online through Etsy or Faire.
- Shops selling gift sets built from single items.
- Owners who only need counts to match everywhere.
Limitations
Trunk syncs stock levels and nothing else, so prices, descriptions and reporting stay in each channel. Its Square listing was most recently updated in March 2024.
Trunk vs Cash Margin Partners
Trunk keeps a candle's count right on Square and Etsy at once. Cash Margin Partners shows whether the candle has sold in the imported Square sales history; it does not read Etsy sales directly.
| Point | Trunk | Cash Margin Partners |
|---|---|---|
| Starting price | $35 per month | Free |
| Square access | Reads and writes | Read-only |
| Bundles and materials | Yes | No |
| Reporting | Stock levels only | Cash tied up in slow stock |
6. SkuHarmony: Best for One Square Location Paired With One Shopify Location
SkuHarmony keeps inventory counts in sync between one Square location and one Shopify location, for $49.99 per month.
SkuHarmony's Square App Marketplace listing uses a plain example. Sell two units of a SKU on Shopify, and SkuHarmony deducts two from the same SKU in Square.
The SkuHarmony homepage adds catalog sync for prices, descriptions, images and variants. It also lists sync rules, error alerts and a change history.
The listing dates to December 2018 and was most recently updated in February 2024. Billing runs through Shopify, and the homepage says TikTok, Etsy and Amazon support is on the way.
Key features
- Two-way stock sync between one Square location and one Shopify location.
- Catalog sync for prices, descriptions, images and variants.
- Sync rules, such as drafting new items or adjusting a pricing formula.
- Error and anomaly notifications, plus a detailed change history.
Pricing
SkuHarmony charges $49.99 per month for the first synced location, covering up to 10,000 products or variants. Free accounts sync 10 items, and the $49.99 plan carries a 30-day money-back guarantee.
Who should choose SkuHarmony
- One Square shop with one Shopify store and a catalog under 10,000 variants.
- Owners who want prices and images to match, as well as counts.
- Stores that prefer one flat monthly price over order-volume tiers.
Limitations
SkuHarmony links one location to one location and bills through Shopify. Stores without Shopify, or with several Square locations, will need a different tool.
SkuHarmony vs Cash Margin Partners
SkuHarmony solves a two-channel bookkeeping chore. Cash Margin Partners reads every active Square location and ranks the stock that's holding cash.
| Point | SkuHarmony | Cash Margin Partners |
|---|---|---|
| Starting price | $49.99 per month | Free |
| Square locations covered | One | All active locations |
| Square access | Reads and writes | Read-only |
| Shopify required | Yes | No |
7. Linnworks: Best for High-Volume Multichannel Sellers Who Also Run Square
Linnworks is a multichannel commerce platform that manages inventory, orders and fulfillment across marketplaces, with Square as one connected channel.
Linnworks' Square App Marketplace listing describes one dashboard for inventory, Square payments, orders and fulfillment. It sits in the marketplace's eCommerce category and has been listed since July 2021.
The Linnworks Square page says you can push inventory and order adjustments to Square. Orders import from Square, shipments post back, and you choose which fields sync.
Per the pricing page, plans are priced on monthly order volume rather than revenue. The SkuVault Core package, aimed at warehouse operations, is sold only in North America.
Key features
- Order management and automation across marketplaces and webstores.
- Inventory and order adjustments pushed to Square.
- Optional modules for listings, warehouse management and forecasting.
- Conjura retail analytics as an add-on.
Pricing
The Linnworks pricing page lists custom pricing, tiered by monthly order volume, with overage charges. Onboarding is a one-off fee, and the page promises no percentage fees.
Who should choose Linnworks
- Brands whose online orders far outnumber counter sales.
- Teams shipping to several marketplaces from one warehouse.
- Sellers who want forecasting and warehouse modules from their order management vendor.
Limitations
Custom pricing plus an onboarding fee puts Linnworks out of reach for most single-location shops. A store that sells mainly over the counter would pay for order capacity it won't use.
Linnworks vs Cash Margin Partners
Linnworks moves online orders out the door. Cash Margin Partners looks at the stock that has stopped moving and puts a dollar figure on it.
| Point | Linnworks | Cash Margin Partners |
|---|---|---|
| Starting price | Custom pricing | Free |
| Onboarding fee | Yes, one-off | None |
| Square access | Reads and writes | Read-only |
| Order and fulfillment automation | Yes | No |
| Ranked plan for slow stock | Not described | Yes |

How to Pick the Right Square Inventory App for Your Store
Start with the problem that costs you the most money this month. Then match it to the tool built for that job.
- Double entry between Square and a website: pick a sync tool. SKU IQ covers the most storefronts, SkuHarmony fits a single Shopify pairing, and Trunk suits Etsy and Faire sellers.
- Several Square locations with purchasing and transfers: compare Thrive's plan for your location count against Square Premium at $149 per location.
- A warehouse shipping to Amazon and eBay: shortlist Finale Inventory or Linnworks, and budget for a contract.
- No clear idea which stock is holding your cash: start read-only with Cash Margin Partners before you buy more software.
My position: many Square owners shop for sync software when the costlier problem is stock that hasn't sold in six months. A sync tool keeps a slow item's count accurate on two channels, and the item still sits there.
Key data point: U.S. retailers outside autos held 1.09 months of sales in inventory in July 2026, per the Census Bureau's September 16 release.
At that ratio, a hypothetical Square gift shop selling $50,000 a month carries about $54,500 in stock. Run the free trapped-cash estimate to see how much of yours has stopped moving. This directional questionnaire gives a benchmark range; use a supported connection or reviewed item-level upload for SKU-level analysis.
What the First 90 Days With a Square Inventory App Look Like
This is the rhythm we suggest for CMP users on Square, and it works with any tool above. Results depend on your stock, your margins and your market.
Week 1: connect and clean
Connect Square and check that every active location appears. Fill in unit costs for your highest-value items first, because a dollar view is only as good as the costs behind it.
Weeks 2 to 4: read the first diagnostic
Sort slow and dead stock by dollars, then by months without a sale. Start with the top 20 lines, since they hold the first decisions to make.
Store example: Take a hypothetical two-location Square gift shop with 1,800 SKUs. The diagnostic flags 140 items with no sales in nine months, holding $18,600 at cost against a $7,400 monthly rent.
Weeks 5 to 12: act, then remeasure
Work the recovery plan in order. Mark down what still has demand, bundle what pairs well, and clear the rest through a channel you trust. Remeasure monthly, and watch the back room shrink line by line.
How to Vet a Square Inventory App Before You Connect It
- Does it read, write or both? Any app that writes to Square can change your counts. A vague answer about permissions is the tell.
- Is the marketplace listing current? Check the listing's last-updated date. A listing untouched for two years deserves a direct question about support.
- Does it report in dollars? Units and weeks of cover don't tell you whether rent is covered. Ask to see a dollar report.
- Is the price published? If the page says "request a demo" and nothing else, expect a contract.
- What happens when you disconnect? Ask how you export your history, because it should leave with you.
Operator tip: Run any 14-day trial during a normal sales fortnight, outside a holiday rush. You'll see how the tool handles an ordinary Tuesday, which is most of your year.
Start Here: How to Get Started This Week
- In Square Dashboard, export your stock-level report. It's free on every plan.
- Sort the export by quantity on hand and flag items you can't remember selling this season.
- Check that unit costs are filled in for your 50 highest-value items.
- Connect Square to a free Cash Margin Partners workspace and compare the trapped-cash figure with next month's rent and payroll.
- Only then trial a sync or purchasing tool, using the vendor's free trial.
